Muddiest Point

Muddiest point is a classroom assessment technique (C.A.T.) that gives students opportunities to point out what they are most confused about or what they do not "get."  These feedback gives the instructor the opportunity to correct assumptions and gaps in knowlege.

How do you do it?

1. Use it in class with an index card or paper.

2. Ask students to write down the one thing that is least clear to them in class discussion or after completing the readings for class.

3. Collect the responses and quickly review and group responses

4. Next ask students to respond to one of the responses by offerring clarification  or an example that might help clear things up.

5. Alternately, after collecting the responses sort through them after class and start your next class meeting with some clarification points.
