The Center for Teaching and Learning (CTL) is tasked with providing support to faculty in the development and enhancement of all aspects of teaching at Centre College. The CTL specifically focuses on supporting faculty in their work as teachers and the campus’ educational mission to advance student learning through innovative and evidence-based teaching.

How Can CTL Help?
The CTL provides spaces and opportunities to explore and nurture growth in all areas of faculty development.
The CTL offers financial support for experiments with new and/or innovative teaching practices and the revision or development of new courses.
The CTL provides individualized support for all stages of faculty development and growth through consultations, formative assessment, and targeted support.

CTL Leadership
The CTL Advisory Board, the CTL Staff, and the CTL Faculty Fellows constitute CTL Leadership.
The purpose of the CTL Advisory Board is to advise the CTL in fulfilling its mission of supporting the creation and implementation of effective and innovative teaching and learning practices. Advisory Board members provide direction to the CTL’s mission and programs, serve as liaisons between the CTL and the college community, and review funding opportunity proposals.
Current members of the board include: Tom Allen, Maria Apostolova, Genevieve Bell, Laura Chincilla, Peter Haffner, Sarah Murray, Kerry Paumi

The CTL Faculty Fellows program is intended to encourage faculty exploration, study, and sharing of pedagogical approaches; advance our understanding and implementation of new and innovative pedagogies; and highlight the teaching excellence of Centre College faculty members.
Current CTL Faculty Fellows include Mary B. Daniels, H. W. Stodghill, Jr. and Adele H. Stodghill professor of Spanish. Mary's focus is on New Faculty onboarding and support for 2026-27.
