Our Mission

The Center for Teaching and Learning (CTL) is tasked with providing support to faculty in the development and enhancement of all aspects of teaching at Centre College. The CTL specifically focuses on supporting faculty in their work as teachers and the campus’ educational mission to advance student learning through innovative and evidence-based teaching.

Located on the 3rd floor of Crounse Hall (308), the CTL offers a quiet space for faculty to grade, write, conduct meetings, and gather.

We have an assortment of coffee, tea, and snacks on hand and are available for consultations or casual connections.

You will also find various books available for checkout. Some of the topics include Assessment, Course Design, Creativity, Faculty Development, and the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning. How Can CTL Help?

The CTL provides spaces and opportunities to explore and nurture growth in all areas of faculty development. 


The CTL offers financial support for experiments with new and/or innovative teaching practices and the revision or development of new courses.


The CTL provides individualized support for all stages of faculty development and growth through consultations, formative assessment, and targeted support.

CTL Advisory Board

The purpose of the CTL Advisory Board is to advise the CTL in fulfilling its mission of supporting the creation and implementation of effective and innovative teaching and learning practices. Advisory Board members provide direction to the CTL’s mission and programs, serve as liaisons between the CTL and the college community, and review funding opportunity proposals.
