Technology Support Services

The Center for Teaching and Learning (CTL) offers a variety of services to faculty to assist in curriculum development, materials creation, classroom support, and online course development.

Duplication and Digitizing Services: Faculty can bring materials to the CTL that they would like to have digitized or duplicated: documents, images (slides, negatives, photos), videos, or audio. The CTL can turn those materials into any format you need for use in PowerPoint, DVD player, or whatever you need. Stop by the CTL office to discuss your project, and we can let you know how long the project will take to complete.

Classroom Support and Information: Provides detailed information about classroom size and technology available for every classroom on campus.

Room Reservations (uReserve): The CTL is now responsible for the reservations of all classrooms and classroom equipment (laptops, projectors, cameras, camcorders, slide projectors, and overheads). Visit the linked website for instructions on how to reserve a room.

Computer Labs: The CTL and ITS share the responsibility of maintaining the computer labs on campus. For a list of the labs available at Centre, click the link for more information.

Passport Pictures: The CTL offers students and faculty passport pictures. Visit the link for more information.

Printing: All print jobs requiring special handling should be directed to Centre Document Services. The CTL, though, is the only place on campus to print large format posters for conferences or instructional use. Because of the cost of ink and paper, the CTL will not print any materials for use outside of class or research.

Workshops / Training

There are numerous opportunities to learn how to use the various types of computer equipment and software available at Centre. You can attend one of the many workshops offered by ITS or the CTL, or you can schedule one-on-one training sessions in your office. As a member of the Associated Colleges of the South (ACS), you can also attend (at no cost to you or the College, including airfare, room, and board) workshops offered at one of the NITLE technology centers. For more information about workshops, please visit the following websites. The CTL website has a list of software manuals and documentation that you can download, if you prefer to learn on your own.

Classroom Support

Classroom Information: Please visit our CTL Classroom information page to find out details about how each room is equipped, whether it is a technology classroom or a standard classroom. Please call the CTL office, if you need us to deliver any equipment, such as overhead projectors or slide projectors, to your classroom.

Purchasing Instructional Films/Media: The CTL has set aside $6000 for the purchase of instructional films and other media in support of the academic program. If you need a film that is not currently in our collection, please send your request to Crystal Wesley in the library. Your request will be forwarded to your division chair and reviewed by CTL staff. If money is available for your request and if approved, the library will order your film/media and put it in the library's holdings, available for your check-out, when needed. The film collection on DVD is currently available in the library (and can be searched via the library's online catalog). The film collection on VHS tape is still housed in the CTL and will be made available to the online catalog in the next year.

Technology Cart and A/V Cart Delivery and Setup: If your class is not scheduled in a room with a mounted projector, you can reserve one of four technology carts available in all academic buildings on campus: Grant, Young, Olin, and Crounse. Each of these technology carts is equipped with a computer, projector, VCR, and speakers. All carts, except for the Olin cart, have a computer monitor. Put in your request online or call the CTL office to request that we deliver and set up an a/v cart or technology cart for your classroom.
